Lambda Chi Alpha

As one of MIT's newest chapters, Lambda Chi Alpha was re-founded in 2024, building on a national fraternity established in 1909 and a presence at MIT stretching back decades. Anyone who joins us now helps shape what this next chapter becomes. We're built around academic and career rigor balanced with genuine fun: study hard, play hard, and push each other to grow. Our brothers come from a wide range of majors, countries, and backgrounds, and that diversity is part of what makes us close; we’re a chapter that genuinely feels like a tight knit group of friends.

Many of our brothers are deeply involved in MIT's startup scene, having founded their own companies, while others compete in football, squash, and hockey or lead in professional development and pre-professional clubs. We care about personal development, entrepreneurship, leadership, and a growth mindset, and we're actively looking to welcome the next group of brothers who'll help us grow.

What sets us apart is our history. Despite being newly re-founded, our decades on campus give us something most new chapters don't have: an extensive, deeply engaged MIT alumni network and an active alumni board that mentors brothers, opens doors, and helps us grow. One of our own, Oliver Smoot, is the namesake of the "smoots" still painted across the Harvard Bridge, and our alumni today have gone on to found companies that are funded, acquired, and publicly traded, alongside leaders in finance, tech, and beyond.

Our home is a beautiful six story brownstone at 99 Bay State Road in Boston's Back Bay, just a short trip across the river from campus. We take real pride in keeping it one of the cleanest houses on campus, with large common rooms, a great kitchen, and one of the best rooftop views around. The house is always being improved and renovated, and includes parking and a garage for e scooters.

Recruiting male-identifying first-year, sophomore, and junior students.
